Pavel Milyukov
Honoured Artist of Russia.
Born in 1984 in Perm. Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and completed an assistantship-internship at the Moscow State Conservatory (class of Professor Vladimir Ivanov). Furthered his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and the Vienna Institute of Music and Performing Arts under the guidance of Professor Boris Kushnir.
Laureate of international competitions in Kloster Schöntal (II prize, 2003), the Robert Canetti Competition (I prize, 2005, held in Hungary), the Niccolò Paganini Competition in Moscow (II prize, I prize not awarded, 2007), Astana Violin in Astana (Grand Prix, 2008), Vibrarte in Paris (I prize as part of the Con Spirito trio, 2008), David Oistrakh in Moscow (II prize, 2008), in Seoul (II prize, 2012), Aram Khachaturian in Yerevan (I prize, 2012). In 2010, he won I prize at the First All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow). In 2015, he won III prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition.
The violinist is actively involved in concert activities: he tours in Europe, Japan, South and North Korea, China, Brazil, and many cities in Russia, where he also gives master classes. He performs at renowned concert venues with leading Russian and foreign ensembles: the Svetlanov State Orchestra of Russia, the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan, the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra, and others. Among the conductors with whom Pavel Milyukov has collaborated are Valery Gergiev, Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Mikhail Pletnev, Yuri Simonov, Vladimir Yurovsky, Kristian Järvi, James Conlon, Alexander Sladkovsky, Vasily Petrenko, Pavel Kogan, and Robert Canetti.
Pavel has been twice awarded scholarships from the St Petersburg House of Music and the Joint-Stock Bank «Rossiya». From 2008 to 2012, he was a soloist with the St Petersburg House of Music. He is a participant in the Moscow Philharmonic’s «Stars of the 21st Century» programme.
In 2016, he was awarded the Order of Friendship. Since 2016, he has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory in the violin department under the guidance of Professor Vladimir Ivanov.
He plays a Pietro Giovanni Guarneri ‘Ex-Sigeti’ violin, provided by the Swiss foundation «Neva».
