Alexander Ramm
Outstanding Russian cellist. Laureate of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. His performances attract full houses throughout Russia and in many countries around the world. His bright individuality, careful attitude to sound production, virtuosity, nobility and convincing interpretations – these are the qualities that listeners have come to love. His debut album with Benjamin Britten’s Suites for solo cello (Melodiya, 2018) not only garnered rave reviews from the Russian and international press (Der Spiegel, The Strad), but brought Alexander comparisons to Mstislav Rostropovich and won the New York Violoncello Foundation’s Listener’s Choice Award (2018). In June 2023, Alexander was honoured to be invited as a jury member for the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, becoming one of the youngest judges in the competition’s history.
