Valery Piassetski

Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor at the the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Director of the Central Music School (Moscow), winner of the Grant of the Russian Performing Arts Foundation.

Artistic director of the All-Russian competition for young musicians «Sozvezdie». Member of the jury of the Grand Piano Competition, Astana Piano Passion, the Tchaikovsky and S.V. Rachmaninoff International Youth Competitions and others.

Born in 1961 in Moscow. Graduate of the Central School of Music and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

As a concert pianist he has performed in all major cities of the USSR, as well as in European and Asian countries. A recognised chamber pianist: for many years he has been a regular partner in duets with People’s Artists of Russia Mikhail Khomitser, Marine Yashvili and many others.

Since 2022 he has been Rector of the Central Moscow Musical School – Academy of Performing Arts. Under his leadership, by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, unique educational projects were opened in the regions: the Central Music School’s Baltic, Siberian and Primorsky branches. A famous pedagogue. More than 150 times Professor Piassetski’s pupils have won prizes at international and all-Russian competitions. A special place goes to Denis Matsuev, winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
